Classes are typically held Indoors from mid November until mid April and Outdoors from mid April until mid November. In the pictured schedule, our Outdoor locations are above the green dotted line and the Indoor locations are below the green dotted line.
Nope! Newly postpartum moms usually bring their babies in whatever stroller they are using with their infant car seat. Ultimately, we want your baby/toddler to be comfortable during class and therefore, we would suggest you choose whichever stroller brings them the most comfort.
Hands down, the BOB Revolution either the single or duallie! You can purchase infant car seat adapters for them as well. BOB strollers do not lose their value, last forever, and they have phenomenal customer service should you need it. Whether you buy new from them or a local store or search on craig's list or amazon for a deal, you will find that you will never regret purchasing your BOB.
You, your baby/toddler, a sturdy stroller to power walk with (or jog if you choose). We also suggest you bring WATER, and appropriate accessories based on the weather such as sunblock or warm layers for both you and your baby. When we are outside, you will want a towel / yoga mat / small blanket to lay on for the abdominal portion of the class.
We recommend waiting until your baby is at least 6 weeks of age to begin class. They can take classes up to any age so long as they still enjoy a ride in the stroller. ALWAYS get your doctor's permission before starting this or any other kind of exercise program.
Our first priority is the happiness of your baby! Tend to your baby first and we will also help to rock your stroller, if you are ok with that, while you get your workout in. If you need to stop for a few minutes to care for the baby's needs, you can always catch up with the group because we stop every few minutes for another station. If your baby ever fusses so much that you miss class, we will happily credit you another class. Our instructors will do their very best to make the class enjoyable for both you and your baby!
We will only cancel classes in extreme weather conditions. If you ever show up to a class and there is no instructor (and it's not cancelled due to weather), please call 914-977-3038 so that we can credit you a class. The workouts are 1 hour long. We warm up for a few minutes, then there are intervals of power walking or jogging (your choice - no pressure ever to run!!) for about 45 minutes, and the last 10 minutes are reserved for abdominal work and stretching. It is a real workout, so wear clothes you are comfortable exercising in. That said, however, we offer the class so that you are able to take it at whatever fitness level you are currently at. We want to challenge and support you where you are, but also give you the opportunity to improve your physical strength and endurance so that you have the strength you need for MOTHERHOOD!! Because we all know that being a mom is physically demanding. You know you are doing the right amount at class when you leave energized for the next few hours. When you've overdone it, your body lets you know right away, by depleting energy. We know it is most likely you caring for your child for the remainder of the day and we want to help you have the energy you need so finding that just right balance is very important to us at class. Ultimately, we want you to listen to your body and go at your pace for that particular day.
